Wildlife Guide — Alan Gillanders
Why not have your own personal Wildlife Guide? If you're a keen photographer or nature-lover then this beautiful freshwater eco-system will be sure to delight you with it's myriad of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians.
A number of spots around the lake are very good for bird watching and it is home to Pelicans, ducks, Black-shouldered Kites, Sea Eagles and other birds of prey, Purple Swamphens, White-throated Gerygones and large numbers of Golden-headed Cisticolas. Around other areas of shoreline you will see kingfishers and Comb-crested Jacanas (lotus birds), Brolgas, Egrets, Cormorants, and a range of other birds. Our boat is very comforable and is an ideal viewing platform.
Alan Gillanders, is a local Tablelander and his interest in natural history has been life long. While earning his living as a teacher Alan led botanical, geological and birding tours for various local, interstate and international interest groups and operators. Being an ex-teacher, Alan is good with children and his rates are very reasonable.
Fishing
Lake Tinaroo is home to Eleven World Record Barramundi catches and the Barra Bash is held here each year. At 37.85kg Tinaroo holds the record for the largest freshwater Barramundi caught.
We are not a professional fishing vessel however we do have basic fishing gear including tackle, bait and knowledge of a few "hot spots" should you wish to try your luck. Alternatively feel free to bring your own gear, flick around a lure or let a live bait do the work, then sit back and enjoy a BBQ dinner.
We also have a lot of fun catching sooty grunter (black bream) on light line.
Live Entertainment — Heather Angell
For a romantic sunset cruise or that special evening why not have your own live entertainment on board?
Heather Angell's music is easy listening and creates a lovely ambience that anyone can enjoy.
